Important Notice - CIV ( canine influenza ) Vaccinations Now Required
Canine Influenza Virus / Canine Flu
This highly contageous respiratory disease has affected a high number of pets in Chittenden County and many surrounding areas in addition to many thousands of dogs in the United States. Because CIV is a relatively new virus, most dogs have not been exposed to it before. Dogs of any age, breed and vaccine status are susceptible to this infection.
Here at Sandy Pines, we have a responsibility to ensure that your most trusted friend and member of your family, is kept as safe as is humanly possible from any and all situations that may come up. It is to this end that we devote all our time while your pet is staying with us.
After having lengthy coversations with area Vets and in light of the current canine influenza problems in the area, Sandy Pines is now going to require that all dogs coming in for boarding, now and in the future, must be innoculated against the H3N8 canine influenza virus. We have not had any problems and this action is taken to ensure that all pets coming to Sandy Pines will have a level of protection from this very serious virus.
This change in policy was carefully thought out and the health of your pet was the deciding factor in our decision. Please feel free to give us a call with any questions or concerns you may have.
